Trinity's Focus for Community Programs
Ossining Food Pantry
The Ossining
Food Pantry was established in 1988 and is located here at Trinity
Church. The purpose of the pantry is to provide food for those who have
an emergency need and to familiarize them with other community
resources. Clients of the OFP are eligible to receive food twice a
month and may be referred to the Pantry by social service agencies and
clergy. The OFP is a project serving the Greater Ossining Area and is
open on Fridays from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. Founded by four area
Episcopal churches, it is now a community project encompassing many
houses of worship with support from civic organizations and
corporations. More than 100 families are served each week. Delivery to
homebound seniors and the disabled started in October 1992. In
addition, a Thursday night food distribution at the Parish Hall now
serves employed persons who need help making ends meet and are unable
to come Friday morning because of work schedules.

Prison Ministry Network
In 2001, the Diocese of New York Social Concerns Commission's
Congregation and the Criminal Justice System Committee began
reorganization as the Prison Ministry Network. The Network seeks
to identify and link prison-related ministries, gain support for the
programs and individuals, and assist congregations and interested
persons to become involved.
Information and networking meetings were held in June and December
2001, and December 2002. Over sixty persons attended and many new
volunteers are now involved in prison ministry. We continue to
try to locate more existing programs. If you know of programs not
listed on our Prison Ministry Network Programs Page, please contact
matt2536@trinityossining.org.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The free classes are sponsored by the Putnam/Westchester BOCES Adult
Education Center and offer adults the opportunity to improve speaking,
listening and writing in English. Class schedules have changed
and are no longer held at Trinity. For more information, call

World
AIDS
Day
Trinity Church includes this day in its
liturgical calendar by incorporating World AIDS Day into its Choral
Eucharist on the Sunday closest to December 1. We remember those who
have died of AIDS, give thanks for those who minister to persons
affected by and infected with HIV, and pray for those who suffer from
AIDS/HIV and related illnesses. Trinity also invites local AIDS service
organizations to the coffee hour to increase AIDS awareness and
encourage volunteers. Also, panels from the Names Project Memorial
Quilt are displayed in the church for viewing, prayer and meditation.
In 1997, Trinity's clergy and choir offered a choral evensong Service
of Prayer and Healing, which included the dedication of a new Quilt
panel in memory of an Ossining resident. In 2002, Trinity hosted
an ecumenical service.
