Even with this year's early Easter,
somehow Eastertide is inextricably associated with spring and flowers
and sunshine. The temptation to plant flowers right now is almost
overwhelming. Hopefully, this outburst of joy over God's wondrous
renewal of the earth and all creation can keep us centered in the good
news of the Resurrection.
Our world, our country, our state, and our town have endured the long
hard hold of winter. Wars, budget crises, the loss of spiritual
leaders, the divisions in our own denomination have left us feeling
battered and disillusioned.
But into our hopelessness, fear, and confusion comes the irresistible
news that "Christ is Risen." The God of all eternity has come to us and
raised us to eternal life where faith, hope, and love change darkness
into springtime.
May we "rise and be on our way" into brighter days and continued renewal and growth as the family of God.
